CRA... This is gut Check Time...

There are so many primaries out there that are on fire, I can not count.

As a State CRA Board Member, I often feel myself getting pulling in two or more different directions. The CRA never arrives at its' endorsement easily.

Harken back to the State CRA Convention where we endorsed Moderates like Steve Poizner and Bruce McPherson easily for Insurance Commissioner and Secretary of State (resepctively), but we stayed out of the Governor's race.

Up here in Placer County, we have a battle for the ages. Sup District 1 pits Placer CRA-Endorsed Candidate Rocky Rockholm against newly-minted Republican Pauline Rocucci. Rocucci has moved to the right for her campaign, saying a lot of the same things that Rocky does... but Rocky has always been a favorite of the Placer CRA. This dosen't mean we agree with Rocky 100% of the time, but he is our guy.

Up here in Placer County, we have a battle for the ages. Sierra College board president Jerry Simmons is in a heated contest against 12-year incumbent Robert Weygant for Sup District 2. Weygant gave Feinstein $1,000 and he endorsed Barbara Boxer against Bill Jones. Unlike Poizner, he has not repented of his sins. Weygant has been using Placer County's taxpayer money to buy easements to use them as eco-sanctuaries to prevent growth.

You would think in California's most Republican County that everything is hunky-dory... nope. Even worse as it pretains to the board of Supervisors, there is a third horse in the Rocucci vs Rockholm race. Rene Aguilera, the chairman of the Placer County Democrat party has thrown in, too. This is a blatant effort to help Pauline, by trying to deny Rocky the 50% +1 majority he needs to stop a runoff.

For those of you in-tune with the whole state. You will remember that the Placer CRA raised $41,500 to get Aaron Klein and Scott Leslie elected to the Sierra College Board. We also stopped an attempted takeover of Lincoln, CA city council by the anti-growth forces.

If you are a CRA member in Placer County, now is the time to step up and walk a precinct and call your friends and make sure that they vote for change. I am on the ballot for Central Committee in District 2 which is Rocklin and Lincoln and parts in between. That is Aaron F. Park for County Central Committee.

Jerry Simmons is running in the same district for County Supervisor.

Rocky Rockholm's District is District 1. D1 is Western Roseville and everything that stertches out to the Sutter County line to the west.

The gut check is in in Placer County. But please look to the CRA Endorsements all over the state to be your guide.

John Doolittle for Congress
Ted Gaines for Assembly
Sam Aanestad for Senate
Rick Keene for Assembly
Roger Niello for Assembly

Enough said...

SCREW THE POOR!!

State Sen. Tom McClintock has great column on how hiking the minimum wage hurts the poor. See it here. CRA ran radio ads discouraging Sen. Abel Maldanado for supporting such a hike. You can listen to it on the bottom of the main page.

Bilbray Win Is A GOP Loss

Brian Bilbray won a special election in the 50th Congressional District. Two things will hapen in June in the runoff. Either the Democrat Busby will win using the lobbyist label on Bilbray.

The National Dems must be licking their chops. This seat is vacant because the previous congressman took bribes. So running a lobbyist must warm the hearts of the DNC. In addition Bilbray is a liberal. What will motivate GOP stalwarts to vote for him?

Past CRA President Jon Fleischman argues that conservatives should consolidate around Roach to beat Bilbray in the June Primary. See it here.

Jon is right on! Bilbray is a tax raiser, a flip flopper on abortion, and of course anti-gun. See some of it here. So if he wins the GOP primary, what changes in Wahington D.C.? Answer: Nothing.

Conservatives have to fight people like Bilbray.

The Enemy Within

This is the title that discusses The Governor's appointments. See it here. That says it all. Highly partisan Democrats appointed, while Republicans of all stripes go wanting.

What Should A GOP Majority Do?

How many of you reading this said "Increase spending--- alot!"?

Today's Washington Times has an editorial outlining the problem. See it here.

This one of the reasons CRA revived its Federal PAC. CRA Fed PAC raised about $65,000 for the race to replace convicted GOP Congressman Duke Cunningham. We spent it to oppose a big spender former congressman and lobbyist Brian Bilbray. The election is today. You can see the pieces here.

The Great Amnesty Debate

As the debate to grant amnesty rages in Washington D.C. Some words of wisdom could be found in Congressman Rohrbachers words written in the Daily Breeze newspaper. Read them here. Good stuff.

When Conservatives Abandon their Movement

Tom Delay was a conservative member of Congress. Although he announced his resignation yesterday, he had ceased to be a conservative congressman several years earlier. He became part of the club. He supported other Republicans because they were part of the club, regardless of whether that protected the family or our pocketbook.

This disheartening trend is happening in Orange County in the 35th Senate District. The Choice is clear. An Assemblyman named Tom Harman that has voted for bigger government, was first elected in the open primary with Democratic votes and has the support of labor unions or Diane Harkey, a pro-family, anti-tax conservative.

Look at the list of Harkey endorsements
Congressman John Campbell
Congressman Dana Rohrabacher
Congressman Ed Royce
Senator Tom McClintock
Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, who maxed out at over $3,250
Assemblyman Ray Haynes

Now look at the Harman endorsements.
Senator Jim Battin
Senator Dave Cox
Senator Bob Margett
Senator Sam Aanestad
Assemblyman Russ Bogh
Assemblyman Bill Emmerson
Assemblyman Bill Maze
Assemblywoman Lynn Daucher
Assemblyman Guy Houston
Assemblyman Rick Keene
Assemblyman Greg Aghazarian
Assemblyman Roger Niello
Assemblyman Dave Cogdill
Assemblyman Jay La Suer
Assemblyman George Plescia

And now look at some of the $$
TAXPAYER'S FOR DAVE COGDILL,$3,300
BILL EMMERSON FOR ASSEMBLY,$3,300
MAZE FOR ASSEMBLY, $3,300.00
RICK KEENE FOR ASSEMBLY 2006, $3,300.00
PLESCIA FOR ASSEMBLY (06), $3,300.00
MARK WYLAND FOR SENATE, $3,300.00
TAXPAYERS FOR DAVE COX - SENATE 2008, $3,300.00
ROY ASHBURN FOR SENATE, $1,000
AGHAZARIAN 2006, $1,000

Of course not everyone on that list is a conservative. I expect Lyn Daucher and some of the others to support Harman. But some of these “leaders” claim to be conservative and interested in the movement. They have put their club above changing California. Local conservatives need to be forthright with these and others who call themselves conservatives. Stop helping the enemy because they are in the club!
