Union members for Prop. 73 should support Prop. 75.
Are there teachers that support Prop. 73?
Of course there are. Prop. 73 protects teenagers by requiring parental notification before an abortion is performed. You can get more information on Prop. 73 here.
Now the United Teachers of Los Angeles are using union dues to oppose the reforms AND Prop. 73. That's right Pro-parent teachers in Los Angeles are funding a flyer and newspaper insert that tell people to vote against Prop. 73 as well as other initiatives. You can see it the flyer here.
If you are for Prop. 73 you need to support Prop. 75. Keep union dues from being used against the wishes of union employees. Vote yes on Prop. 75.

Please Discriminate Against Alaska!
Poor Alaska, target of discrimination.
Sen. Tom Coburn, tried to offset some highway spending in Louisiana with a cut to a bridge designed to serve 15,000 people in Alaska. Unfortunately, only 11 Republicans supported it. Not even the great liberal media's hope John McCain would vote for it. See the story here.
The Washington Post pointed out that Alaska's Sen. Stevens threatened to resign if this "discrimination" against Alaska took place. See the editorial here.
It seems his resignation would save us taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars. Senator Stevens, Don't let the door hit your ____ on the way out.

Prop. 76 is needed!
Can you believe it? An Op-ed by Tom Campbell is on the CRA blog. Read it here.
Prop. 76 is a step in the right direction. It may not be perfect, but it does start the path to balanced and responsible budgeting.

Proposition 76 is needed now
The Daily News ran a couple of pieces on Prop. 76. It is time to fight for this issue. I know it isn't perfect and that CRA along with other conservatives had a better alternative. But this measure is still better than the current system and deserves support. Read the story here.

Is House GOP Leadership coming our way?
Robert Novak outlines how Rep. Mike Pence and other conservatives are forcing House GOP leadership to cut some of big government. Read it here
Do they mean it. In 1994 after the GOP took control of the House, Clinton declared "The era of Big Government is over." I never thought he meant it. It remains to be seen if the GOP means it either.

Where is the McCain Factor
Remember this when McCain is touted as a hero in the media and a white knight to save the Republican Party. Marilyn Brewer, his candidate in the 48th Congressional District didn't do so well in an open primary system. The fact is McCain other than undermining campaign free speech, judicial nominees and GOP issues hasn't helped elect Republicans. Remember that after the media shower attention on him.

GOP, The Stupid Party
John Fund is on to something. In his column he outlines that Republicans by abandoning principle will cost the Party seats in 2006. Duh? From illegal immigration to government spending the GOP majority acts to preserve their majority at all costs. The irony is sacrificing principle will cost them the majority lest they mend their ways.
