Republican "Leaders" Ignore Grass-roots
Bill Saracino is a long time political consultant on the right side of most issues. He has a piece in the Claifornia Public Policy Foundation website that hits the mark.
GOP leaders don't get it on illegal immigration. Just like they missed other popular issues or causes that they should support based on principle. As Bill writes:

The elites of both political parties in California have proven themselves to beRead the whole thing. A good history lesson for "leadership"
remarkably adept at misjudging grass-roots populist revolts over the years.

So-Called Republican Assemblyman Keith Richman Supports Secret Teen Abortions.
Republican Assemblywomen Mimi Walters circulated a letter in the Republican Assembly Caucus supporting Proposition 73, The Parent's Right to Know Initiative. Prop. 73 will overturn a bad State Supreme Court ruling that allowed minor girls, even 12 year olds to get abortions without parental notification.
Only ONE Republican refused to sign. Assemblyman Keith Richman ,(818) 368-383, who is running in a GOP Primary for Treasurer in 2006, thinks Planned Parenthood should keep doing secret abortions on girls. Parents need not know, Keith Richman apparently think he knows what's best for their kids.
By the way Richman voted for AB 646 that requires parental consent before minors can get their body pierced. Richman thinks that body piercing needs parental involvement, but unborn baby body piercing doesn't.

Commentary on Supporting the Iraq War...
GUEST BLOG -- Roseville Conservative
Hi All:
I am part of the Western Alliance of Bloggers based in the Sacramento Area. We got our start because we were all frequent callers into the Eric Hogue show which is on the local Salem affiliate in Sacramento.
We all have roles, mine is to be the flame-thrower of the group. This is a post I wrote two Thursdays ago to respond from a slew of comments by a group of lefties that have infested my blog.
Tonight, I will be responding to a nice attack against the CRA in a newsletter that went out to about 10,000 people. That will be my final post for today. After today, expect to see one post a day, sometimes two if the circumstances are extraordinary.
Flame-Throwing the Moveon Mom and the "Yellow Elephant" straw-man argument...
Anything to distract from the Air America scandal. Check out HS Conservative Blog for more on Air America pilfering money from a boys and girls' club.
This is an AP story that glorifies this sell-out Mother who is tied to Moveon.org and her "Vigil" (probably financed by Moveon). AP Story
Her family who is horrified at what she is doing have broken their silence and responded check the Eric Hogue Blog for more.
If my folks went out and did what Sheehan is doing after I was KIA, I'd be rolling over in my grave. I served in the US military and I never met the President, what makes her think that she should just walk into Crawford and get a second meeting?
Yes, that's the dirty little secret most of the MSM are ignoring. Bush did meet with them. And at that time were quite respectful in their comments. This is proof of where their son stood, he agreed with the mission he was carrying out. I guess he is rolling over in his grave now, too.
Those of you who jumped on me over my outrage at this are ignoring the fact that this Woman's actions are selfish and her connection to a Bush-Hating organization like moveon.org makes you question her motives. Also the fact that it is all about her meeting the President... what about Rummy?
The Yellow Elephant Thing...
Your argument about supporting the Iraq war being hypocritical unless you are willing to sign up and serve is ridiculous... I did my time... so bark up some other tree.
How ridiculous is that Yellow Elephant Argument? Let's translate it into other issues...
Pro-Choice: You can not be truly Pro-Choice unless you are willing to grab a Pistol and execute a post-Partum Abortion on yourself.
Pro Gay Rights: You can not be truly Pro Gay Rights until you have had or are having a Gay relationship. (some of you may be, who knows?)
Pro Little Guy: Go sell all your stuff and work for a homeless shelter, then you have earned the right to take shots at "Rich Republicans". Leave us not forget that 89% of corporate donations go to Dems and Dem causes.
Don't tell me I have no right to support the war in Iraq since I am not willing to leave my business to go over there. Because I will come right back at you and tell you to go buy a dress if you want to support Gay Marriage. I expect to be e-mailed pictures of you guys in dresses right away, then I will go re-join the Navy.
Where was this argument in Vietnam? Korea? Wait... any of Clinton's wars? Somolia where a seal team got hung out to dry, Kosovo? Bosnia? Serbia? Where was the Yellow Donkey argument then? Don't tell me it was because those were just wars, they were as easily politically motivated as anything Bush has done.
Now to the Politically motivated thing. There were more reasons than WMD to go into Iraq... all of you lib commenters on this blog choose to ignore that fact. In Fact, I will recount my Spaghetti Argument.
I have no Spaghetti. Yet I own pots and pans (centrifuges, mobile labs, fixed labs), there is Sauce and Pasta in my cupboard and Ground Beef in my freezer (chemical pre-cursors). I may not posess spaghetti now, given me 15 minutes and I will. (do you get it yet?)
Leave us not forget that the ties between al-Qaeda and Saddam have been proven, he was a despot that murdered people by the thousands... but Bush lied and it was all about Oil. Good Lord, it never stops.

Illegal Immigration - the GOP needs to step up.
We have a serious problem with the impacts of illegal immigration in this country. The CRA has been at the forefront of efforts to DO something about this -- but, alas, the problem seems to be getting worse, not better. Former State GOP Treasurer Mike DerManouel pens an outstanding opinion piece in the Fresno Bee today.
In his piece, Der Manouel says,
Jon Fleischman
In his piece, Der Manouel says,
"A reasonable solution to illegal immigration starts with a reasonable position, and the first political party to adopt to adopt a pro-immigration, anti-illegal immigration platform will win America's favor. All who want to come here legally should be welcome. All who break the law to get here should be immediately deported, regardless of race."Check out the entire editorial, and if you don't want to register at the Bee's site, use login: bugmenot@spambob.org and password: bugmenot.

TEAR DOWN THIS UNION ONLY WALL!!!!
Union bosses are still up to there tricks. Last week, I wrote about the fence to be built by union only labor around the state Capitol. Looks like there is still more to this story than the extra million dollars this no-bid contract will cost taxpayers.
Look at the documents provided the Associated Builders and Contractors. Amazing. Non-union bidders are crossed of the bidding lists. Page 6 talks about the non-union natives being restless. Page 4 has the union only rule pasted in as an after thought.
Can someone say scandal. Not that State Senate leader Don Perata would be investigated for anything illegal. The Senate Rules Committee needs to rescind this action. Republicans on the committee need to step up to the plate and end this union based discrimination and waste of taxpayer money.

CRA UNIT WINS!!! FIRST AMENDMENT LIVES!
This came from the President of the Simi Valley/Moorpark Republican Assembly. Please see post below for more info.
The City of Moorpark has faxed over a letter this morning resounding their demand for the $5000 deposit! We are now moving forward on the event! We now need to move forward on getting as many supporters as possible to the event. PLEASE TELL YOUR FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS AND ASSOCIATES TO COME! Because of all the attention this has now received, there will undoubtedly be some protestors. Let's make sure we have the turnout to show them up.

Local CRA Unit Denied Meeting Place. First Amendment Dead?
The Simi Valley/Moorpark Republican Assembly had an event scheduled to hear from immigration activist Andy Ramirez. The City after accepting a check for the meeting and signing an agreement wanted $5000 more in a deposit. Of course they waited just a few days before the event.
Carlsbad tried to cancel an event by Senator Bill Morrow on immigration. Why? Because intolerant, pro-illegal alien activists might protest.
CRA units and others can't have speakers against illegal immigration if someone might protest. The First Amendment may now be dead beacuse of illegal immigration. Political speech must be protected.
A lawsuit has been filed. Here are the details of the meeting.

Thomas Sowell on Immigration. Perfect Analysis
Immigration taboosThomas Sowell
August 16, 2005
Immigration has joined the long list of subjects on which it is taboo to talk sense in plain English. At the heart of much confusion about immigration is the notion that we "need" immigrants -- legal or illegal -- to do work that Americans won't do.
What we "need" depends on what it costs and what we are willing to pay. If I were a billionaire, I might "need" my own private jet. But I can remember a time when my family didn't even "need" electricity.
Leaving prices out of the picture is probably the source of more fallacies in economics than any other single misconception. At current wages for low-level jobs and current levels of welfare, there are indeed many jobs that Americans will not take.
The fact that immigrants -- and especially illegal immigrants -- will take those jobs is the very reason the wage levels will not rise enough to attract Americans.
This is not rocket science. It is elementary supply and demand. Yet we continue to hear about the "need" for immigrants to do jobs that Americans will not do -- even though these are all jobs that Americans have done for generations before mass illegal immigration became a way of life.
There is more to this issue than economics. The same mindless substitution of rhetoric for thinking that prevails on economic issues also prevails on other aspects of immigration.
Bombings in London, Madrid and the 9/11 terrorist attacks here are all part of the high price being paid today for decades of importing human time bombs from the Arab world. That in turn has been the fruit of an unwillingness to filter out people according to the countries they come from.
That squeamishness is still with us today, as shown by all the hand-wringing about "profiling" Middle Eastern airline passengers.
No doubt most Middle Eastern airline passengers are not carrying any weapons or any bombs -- and wouldn't be, even if there were no airport security to go through. But it is also true that most of the time you will not be harmed by playing Russian roulette.
Europeans and Americans have for decades been playing Russian roulette with their loose immigration policies. The intelligentsia have told us that it would be wrong, and even racist, to set limits based on where the immigrants come from.
There are thousands of Americans who might still be alive if we had banned immigration from Saudi Arabia -- and perhaps that might be more important than the rhetoric of the intelligentsia.
In that rhetoric, all differences between peoples are magically transformed into mere "stereotypes" and "perceptions."
This blithely ignores hard data showing, for example, that people who come here from some countries are ten times more likely to go on welfare as people from some other countries.
The media and the intelligentsia love to say that most immigrants, from whatever group, are good people. But what "most" people from a given country are like is irrelevant.
If 85 percent of group A are fine people and 95 percent of group B are fine people, that means you are going to be importing three times as many undesirables when you let in people from Group A.
Citizen-of-the-world types are resistant to the idea of tightening our borders, and especially resistant to the idea of making a distinction between people from different countries. But the real problem is not their self-righteous fetishes but the fact that they have intimidated so many other people into silence.
In the current climate of political correctness it is taboo even to mention facts that go against the rosy picture of immigrants -- for example, the fact that Russia and Nigeria are always listed among the most corrupt countries on earth, and that Russian and Nigerian immigrants in the United States have already established patterns of crime well known to law enforcement but kept from the public by the mainstream media.
Self-preservation used to be called the first law of nature. But today self-preservation has been superseded by a need to preserve the prevailing rhetoric and visions. Immigration is just one of the things we can no longer discuss rationally as a result.

Democrats and Unions Fence Off The Capitol
Democrats on the State Senate Rules Committee have decided that they need a fence around the Capitol building.
The Democrats including FBI investigated Don Perata, Secretary of State wanna be Debra Bowen and our favorite Gil Cedillo have all signed off on the plan that mandates only union members can work on the project.
It appears that this union only process violates the law.
Where is the media on this??
The Democrats can spend millions to put a fence around the Capitol but refuse to spend a dime to put a fence on the border.
The plug needs pulled on this union only waste of taxpayer money.

Proposition 77 ON THE BALLOT!
Good news from a Supreme Court! The State Supreme Court has placed Proposition 77 back on the ballot. This initiative will take the power away from politicians to draw district lines that benefit them. Politicians from both parties protect each other by drawing safe districts. This will end that and allow the people to pick their politicians, not the other way around. Good news, indeed!
Bakersfield's Conservative Ranking Needs a Congressman
A study ranked the most conservative and liberal cities in the country. Bakersfield was ranked as the most conservative city in California. Ahead of Orange, Corona , Simi Valley and others. That's great. Except, why is Bakersfield represented by a liberal Republican Congressman named Bill Thomas?
Lets see. Bill Thomas was one of two California Republican Congressmen to vote against a resolution expressing concern of the Red Chinese Oil Company's bid for Unocal. Thomas voted against an amendment that would stop illegals from getting Social Security. He votes for US tax money to go for abortions overseas or on military bases or unproven embryonic stem cell research. He is now criticized for the pork in the Highway bill.
Bill Thomas and his cronies have engaged in intra-party battles against conservative in College Republicans, the State GOP, Young Republicans, local central committees you name it.
Bakersfield needs conservative leadership in Congress. This is one of the reasons that CRA will be having our state Convention there from March 4-6, 2006. Maybe, then we can help find a Congressman that will truly represent Bakersfield many conservatives.

Taxpayers Subsidize Pro-Abortion Hate
Planned Parenthood- Golden Gate, the infamous Bay Area abortion franchise that helped kill teen-ager Holly Patterson with RU 486, has finally taken down their video depicting prolifers being decapitated or killed by condoms shot by a "pro-choice Superhero".
Planned Parenthood Golden Gate received over half of their funding from government fees and contracts. The California ProLife Council is demanding pro-abortion Attorney General Bill Lockyer investigate. How about the legislature de-fund groups that promote violence and hate. No more tax dollars for pro-abortion hate groups! Taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for these groups to begin with. But when they want their opponents dead?
We all know that if a so-called lifer did something similar. Government would stop it.
Republican legislators need to step up to the plate on this. Make Lockyer and the Governor investigate and stop this funding.

Teacher Union Bosses Infiltrate GOP
At the most recent NEA convention held in Los Angeles, conservative Republicans including CRA Member Dianne Lenning were ousted from leadership in the National Education Association Republican Caucus.
The new leader, Shawna Adam got the NEA to cough up $171,125 in dues money so;
Infiltrate?
Already at the state GOP level there have been attempts to allow the California Teachers Association to comeback and participate in the state GOP conventions. They were banned several years ago, because of their leftist partisan and ideological tilt. A former state GOP Chairman, whose law firm does legal work for the CTA continues to try to change that rule.
Maybe passing Proposition 75 will dry up some of the dues used for these political purposes and keep the “infiltrators” away.
The new leader, Shawna Adam got the NEA to cough up $171,125 in dues money so;
"NEA Republicans [should] take on the GOP agenda to change the anti-public education to pro-public education. NEA Republicans are the obvious choice to change their party from within, help infiltrate the Republican Party with an anti-voucher agenda."

Cross the Border Illegally--- Buy a house
Home ownership is part of the American Dream. Now banks are rewarding those you flaunt American laws and American borders by allowing illegals using Federal Taxpayer Identification numbers to buy houses.
It must be easy to buy a house when in California illegals get tuition tax benefits, social services, under the table cash payments for work and if Gil Cedillo has his way a California Drivers License to boot.

CRA Launches Blog
The California Republican Assembly has launched a blog. Found at www.californiarepublicanassembly.com/blog, the CRA blog is a forum for conservative thought and political activism in California.
